Propeller Monument

It had been thought that the flight plan taken by FK790 meant that the agents were due to be dropped near Exmorra, in Friesland; the people of Exmorra were largely instrumental in the restoration of the propellor from FK790, which is mounted on a plinth in the village square and is looked after by local schoolchildren. In July 1998, Derek Eliot (son of Sgt. Eliot) and I were guests of honour when the monument was unveiled in Exmorra.

The damage from the cannon shell fired by the Messershmitt was what brought down Hudson FK790. Air Chief Marshal Sir Lewis Hodges visited the monument with us and confirmed that this was indeed the cause of the crash.
